Technology Overview
Pictosphere™ is a form of imaging that lets you capture and interactively view all that is visible from a given viewpoint. A still-shot pictosphere™ may be thought of conceptually as a spherical photograph, whereas a motion pictosphere™ may be thought of as a sequence of spherical photographs.

Pictosphere™ Still-Shot techniques and apparatuses let you take a hemispherical shot in one direction, and then precisely align a hemispherical shot in the other direction. Taken together, these two shots form a sphere and record all that is visible from the camera location.

Pictosphere™ Movie techniques and apparatuses let you capture live full-sphere footage.

Pictosphere™ Viewer technology allows you to interactively look around inside a pictosphere™ stills, or pictosphere™ movies. In addition, a minds-eye-view™ zoomout feature allows a viewer see just about the entire pictosphere™ all at once. Without this capability, interacting with a pictosphere™ can be clumsy and overly constrictive.

If you publish more than 500 pictos per month to your website or other computer readable media such as CD-ROM, please contact us to see if you need a Pictosphere™ Enterprise License.
